Successful Ascent of Mount Elbrus Sponsored by Netpak Ambalaj

Athletes from the Istanbul Outdoor Sports Club (İstanbul Doğa Sporları Kulübü), sponsored by Netpak Ambalaj, have successfully completed their Mount Elbrus expedition, reaching the 5,642-meter summit, the highest point in Europe.

The expedition, held between June 14 and 20, was led by Mountain Guide Emre Kapukaya. The team consisting of Istanbul Outdoor Sports Club athletes Yusuf Şahin, Kerim Arslan, Hakan Sönmezic, Miraç Mazlum, and Sacide Yayın set off for the summit of Mount Elbrus, located in Russia.

As part of the climbing program, the team carried out acclimatization work prior to the summit push in order to adapt to high-altitude conditions. The athletes reviewed and practiced winter mountaineering, alpine ice climbing, and technical safety applications on-site, with a particular focus on the use of ice axes and crampons. Rising to an altitude of 5,100 meters during this process, the team prepared for the challenging high-altitude conditions with great discipline.

With weather conditions becoming favorable, the team launched their summit push on the night of June 18 at 01:30 AM. On the same day when numerous climbers from different countries attempted the summit, the Istanbul Outdoor Sports Club team, with their strong pace, planned progress, and team discipline, became one of the earliest groups to reach the summit of Elbrus, known as the roof of Europe, around 06:30 AM.

Following joyful and emotional moments at the summit, the team executed a controlled descent. Reaching the camp safely at the end of an approximately 2.5-hour descent, the athletes later went down to Terskol. After the completion of the activity, a certificate and medal ceremony was organized for the team, crowning the successful summit climb with celebrations.

This meaningful expedition, where all athletes successfully reached the summit and returned in good health, stood out as a prime example of correct planning, strong team spirit, and disciplined mountaineering.
